‘6’ tours to Horsham, Victoria

On Tuesday 20 October, 23 dancers, staff and carers from the dis/assemble dance project departed Albury Wodonga to tour the work ‘6’ by Tim Podesta to Horsham.

The dis/assemble dance group were invited to perform ‘6’ at the Awakenings Festival – Australia’s only regional disability arts festival.

The Awakenings Festival is being held in Horsham between 21-25 October.

The dis/assemble dance project premiered the work at HotHouse Theatre in June 2009 with two sold out shows. The group was booked by the Awakenings Festival before the show had even premiered.

Choreographer Tim Podesta said “This is a great opportunity for the dancers involved in the project to experience going on tour and performing the work to a new audience.”

Murray Arts General Manager Karen Gardner said “Taking 14 dancers plus support staff – a total of 23 people on tour is an enormous logistical challenge, everyone worked really hard to make the show happen.”

Film Mentorship

Jared Younger is currently undertaking a film mentorship working with Helen Newman to create, direct and produce his own short film.

The film will be launched on Thursday December 3 at the Albury City Library Museum at 11am for the International Day of People with a disability.

This mentorship has been made possible by funding from the ‘Don’t dis my Ability’ grant funding and ArtStart Youth Arts and Skills Festival
